First layer (abstract background) done...
Iβve been trying to share more of the real process behind my work. I often post progression videos, but I know not everyone scrolls through, and honestlyβ¦ the inβbetween stages deserve their own moment.
Every painting has its awkward phase β the messy middle, the doubt, the βis this going anywhere?β feeling π¬. As artists we usually hide that part, but itβs where the story actually begins.
Mixed media pieces take time. Layers, experiments, tiny adjustments that no one ever sees. Iβm learning to show more of that hidden world, because itβs part of what makes the final piece feel alive.

Very pleased to be taking part in the `Brixham Art Society Summer Exhibition` alongside several other local artists.
The exhibition will take place from Sat 25th July until Monday 3rd August, at the Scala Hall, Brixham, Devon.
I will be there in person on Tuesday 28th July between 12.15 and 2.30pm.
I will be exhibiting these 3 originals (please scroll) as well as a few prints and greeting cards.
There will be lots of fantastic art on display and for sale, so if you`re local please come and visit π€.

`Contact`
I don`t recall having done one of those `reveals` before, had to be done π.
Last Space Man for now...
I called this one `Contact` but is the Space Man making contact with another Human Being or an Alien entity π€... I let you imagine your own story.
Do you believe in Aliens? πΈ
With my next series, I will revert back to more earthly creatures and landscapes, inspired by my recent visit back home to the old farm house.

A very hot week away back to my roots.
Some of you might have noticed that I was particularly quiet last week. That is because I went back home to my family home (the old farm house) in Burgundy, near Cluny.
In hindsight I might have chosen a different week to visit, it was on average near 40Β°C each day (the car temp reader shows 51Β°C on the hottest day)... So it was far too hot to do much travelling and exploring, but it was good catching up with my sister and enjoying French Food again.
I wanted to take Andrew around the beautiful region of Burgundy to give him a taste of where I grew up, but as I said it was too hot to travel so we pretty much stayed put in the farm house and Cluny.
There`s always next time...
Now that I am back home, I will work on a new series of more rural works including a few landscapes...

Time to Lift off π
I am off on holidays tomorrow and managed to finish these 2 small pieces just in time.
These were super fun to create. First time I used black canvases. So first thing I did was throw a lot of paint on the canvas and waited to see what would come through... and then I thought `ASTRONAUTS!` π©βπππ
I added a bit of gold leaf and shimmering powder for an extra magical touch β¨οΈ et voila!

`Blue Stripes & Pink Sparks`
Last in the `Bold Floral` series.
This one was also created to become a greeting card. Bold and cheerful π©΅π©· (I hope).
I intend on creating more rural artworks when I return from Burgundy at the end of the month.
However in the meantime, I am working on a completely different style which started as playful abstracts by just trowing paint on black canvases and see what happened. I am not saying anymore for now π€

`I See Red`
Been working on a couple of small floral pieces this week. This one has a red foil background. I hope the video helps you see the shimmering juicy red background better than a still photo. Don`t mind me in the background lol. π
This new piece is currently being printed as a greeting card for an upcoming exhibition.
Tomorrow I will reveal the other piece I worked on at the same time, a completely different colour palette. That one will also become a greeting card.

`Prickly in Pink`
So glad to finally have finished this piece.
I haven`t been able to spend as much time in front of the easel as I`ve wanted recently, but that should all change now.
I have one commission to finish and then I will do a few more bright floral pieces (they bring me so much joy) before I go on holiday at the end of the June.
This `Prickly in Pink` piece goes with the earlier cactus painting I did back in March ` Dans la Vie il y a des Cactus`
I loved playing with the semi-abstract shapes and contrasting vivid colours... Another joyous piece π€π

Part of the `bold floral` series...
I call this diptych piece `Neon Botanica`
Those 2 pieces are bringing fun and joy to your decor.
This series of bold floral is bringing me so much joy that I keep on wanting to paint more of those bold coloured semi abstract pieces. I will have to think of a different colour palette because the yellows and oranges take ages to dry, especially since I use palette knife and a lot of paint with lots of layers π«£.

βAnd the steep path that leads to the top of the mountain,β says an old saying. Just as there is no flesh without bone and no flower without thorns, one could add here.
The cactus β a tropical plant that grows mainly in hot, even desert-like environments β seems to embody the perfection of all these old sayings. It appears as a kind of living illustration of them.
Volumetric, minimal, with clean and wellβdefined profiles, perfectly modular in the way it reproduces its iconic geometric form. Its texture is plastic and synthetic in the consistency of its leaves, more similar to a sculpture in rubber or resin, a wall pulled tight and vertical, rather than a plant in the usual sense of the word.
Spiny, watchful, always on the defensive, solitary yet completely autonomous and selfβsufficient β an unbeatable champion, if not a true symbol of resilience, economy, and humility β the cactus is the silent and regal protagonist, austere and difficult to approach, of this exotic selection of contemporary artworks.
